Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the MetaLink API ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

MetaLink provides a REST API that extracts structured metadata (Open Graph tags, Twitter Cards, favicons, titles, descriptions) from URLs. The Service is provided on an "as-is" basis.

3. Account Registration

You must create an account to use the API. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your API keys. Do not share your API keys publicly or embed them in client-side code. Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized use.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service to scrape websites in violation of their terms of service or robots.txt
• Attempt to circumvent rate limits or usage caps
• Use the Service for any illegal purpose or to process illegal content
• Resell, redistribute, or white-label the Service without written permission
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure

5. Rate Limits & Usage

Each plan has per-minute rate limits and monthly request caps. Exceeding these limits will result in HTTP 429 responses. Persistent abuse may result in account suspension. Current limits are listed on our pricing page.

6. Billing & Refunds

Paid plans are billed monthly via Stripe. You may upgrade, downgrade, or cancel at any time through the billing portal. Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period. Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis.

7. Service Availability

We strive for high availability but do not guarantee 100% uptime. The Service may be temporarily unavailable for maintenance, updates, or due to circumstances beyond our control. We are not liable for any downtime or data loss.

8. Intellectual Property

The metadata returned by the API originates from third-party websites. MetaLink does not claim ownership of this content. You are responsible for ensuring your use of extracted metadata complies with applicable copyright laws and the source website's terms.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, MetaLink shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service.

10. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account for violation of these terms. You may delete your account at any time. Upon termination, your API keys will be deactivated immediately.

11. Changes to Terms

We may modify these terms at any time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance. Material changes will be communicated via email or dashboard notification.
